Owain David Williams

Dr Owain David Williams is an expert on global health, particularly in relation to access to medicines, health and political economy and global health governance. He is a British academic and Research Fellow in the Centre for Health and International Relations (CHAIR), Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth University. After obtaining his BA (Hons) and MA from the University of East Anglia, Dr Williams joined the Department of International Politics in 1994 as a PhD student after working for a range of NGOs on TRIPS, biological resources, agriculture and development. His thesis was entitled 'The Knowledge Structure: TRIPS and Biotechnology'. Dr Williams helped to establish the Centre for Health and International Relations (CHAIR) in 2003 and is currently part of a four year European Research Council-funded research project entitled 'Transformation of Global Health Governance: Competing World Views and Crises'.[1]
